Start with the essentials
Pack water for you and your dog, waste bags, a leash and any necessary medication. Check that identification details are current before leaving.
Match the outing
Add a weather layer, towel or extra water according to the route and conditions. Bring only what the particular trip requires.
Reset it on return
Empty used bags, dry damp gear and refill supplies. A kit left wet or half-empty is not ready for the next trip.
Should treats stay in the bag?
Only if stored safely and appropriate for your dog; check freshness and do not leave food in a hot car.
